ソフトウエアをGPLライセンスで公開しようと思ったとき、どのような点に気をつければよいのか？ 以下のサイトに詳しく書かれている。

ポイントは、2点。

• コピーライトの表示をすること。(例) Copyright 2003 lethevert
• GPLの元で配布されていることを明示すること。(例:下記)

以上を、プログラムの全てのソースファイルに記入する。
さらに、GPLのコピーを一緒にパッケージにしておくとなお良い。
